TRAM SHEDS

TRENDY TRAM SHEDS AT FOREST LODGE.

The old Tram sheds at Forest Lodge are newly opened and worth a visit. There is a variety of different food outlets and some shops, the development has been done very well. The single tram was found in a backyard on the Northern Beaches and has been restored, quite quaint, especially as most, if not all the others were destroyed by fire some years ago in the railway museum at Thirroul.

We shall start the walk at a different location to the map in the link - in Chapman Road, behind the PetO shop which is easily spotted as you come along The Crescent, Annandale (turn at the small roundabout where there is a kink in The Crescent). There should be plenty of free on street parking behind PetO.

This will be our last walk before going into recess until Nov 27th. If anyone wants to organise a walk during that time please email and see who is available, otherwise.....

Hasta la vista!!

ELIZABETH BAY AND DARLING POINT

IN AN EASTERLY DIRECTION....

For a change of scene this Sunday we will head over to the eastern side. This is an interesting walk with lots of variation. Passing by Garden Island, Elizabeth Bay and Rushcutters Bay, we also discover some interesting steps and hidden shortcuts to historic Elizabeth Bay House and delightful Fred McElhone Park, one of the most picturesque spots you will find.

There are hills and flats, we designed the walk so that we go DOWN the steps(phew!), the distance  measures 7.7kms.

We will meet at 8am in the pedestrian Plaza opposite the Finger Wharf, on Cowper Wharf Road, near pedestrian lights.  On street parking for 2 hours is available if you make a right hand turn after the Shell Service Station on Cowper Wharf Road, meter money required.

Please let me know if you will be coming, then I will SMS if we cancel.........the forecast is for showers,

Cheers,
Bernadette

All the forecasters predict a wet, wild and woolly weekend for Sydney with the worst weather on Sunday. Despite our best intentions of walking we have decided to call the walk off for this week.

Enjoy the sleep in,

I had a flashback for this one following an inspiration from Mrs Malaprop.

This is the walk that includes some magnificent views, a little bit of bush, plus some streetscape (+ a little pinch at the end to deserve that coffee).

Meet on the corner of Balls Head Road and Woolcott Street, Waverton at 8am for about 7kms of fun and fitness.

Look forward to seeing you then,

GIVE IT ANOTHER SHOT.....

HUNTERS HILL, with a twist........

Our last attempt at this walk was foiled by a thunderstorm, so let's give it another try?

Val and Robert have a different route around Hunters Hill and they are happy to lead us on Sunday morning.

Meet outside the IGA supermarket near the corners of Gladesville Road and Ryde Road at 8am, and let's hope the weather does not interfere this time.

PICKING UP WHERE WE LEFT OFF

HUNTERS HILL IN A NEW LIGHT.

We're baaaack! Ready and raring to go on Sunday morning walks again and catch up with our friends.

Val is going to take us around parts of Hunters Hill which we are not familiar with......not our usual routes. This walk takes in some local history, and beautiful old houses, hoping for a fine morning.

Meet outside the IGA at Hunters Hill near the corner of Gladesville and Ryde Roads at 8am.

LA PEROUSE - NEXT INSTALLMENT

CONGWONG AND LITTLE CONGWONG BEACHES

This week we continue the exploration of the Eastern foreshores.....

Begin again at the corner of Endeavour Ave and Anzac Parade,,,,,,,,,near the shops. Plenty of free parking here.

We will explore the coast rather than the bay and enter the Botany Bay National Park leading to Congwong and Little Congwong Beaches. Henry Head is next on the itinerary with some defences to be explored. You will be surprised at the tee on the golf course before looping back to La Perouse for a delicious morning tea. This unassuming cafe has the best strudel and a good view too.

There will be sand, there will be coastal bush, but there will not be (many) stairs.

No link today - you will just have to trust us on this one!

See you 8am Sunday.

ROSEVILLE PARK

SOUS LE SOLEIL

We start and finish at Roseville Park this week, avoiding the CBD post Mardi Gras revellers.

Meet in Roseville Park on the corner of Cranbrook Ave and Clanville Road Roseville. Plenty of street parking, no meters.

This walk takes us down by Roseville Chase through some bush, then some suburban streets before finishing for coffee in the shady Roseville Park.

IF AT FIRST YOU DON'T SUCCEED

LA PEROUSE.....AGAIN

This weeks forecast is much more favourable for Sunday, so we will try La Perouse again.

Details remain the same, just hope there is no rain.

Be there or be square!

LA PEROUSE

LA PEROUSE....NEW TERRITORY

Now for something completely different.......this Sunday we discover La Perouse, and there is plenty to discover! It will take several visits to this area for it to reveal all it's glory.......quaint beaches, rugged coastline and coastal bush tracks. Unfortunately one cannot visit the museum at Bare Island unless on a tour (weekend afternoons), so you have to organise that another time.

Park your car and meet at 8am, near the Anzac Parade and Endeavour Ave intersection, no parking meters here. We will walk around Bare Island then on to Frenchmans Bay and Yarra Bay. The beach sand here is very white and fine, so let's hope for good weather.

When there is no traffic it doesn't take too long to get to La Pa (local parlance) especially if you take Southern Cross Drive and exit left at Wentworth Avenue, then follow Bunnerong Road to La Pa.....easy.

And some pics, especially for you Robyn ;-)
