BACK ON TRACK

SUNDAY FEB 3

Let's congratulate ourselves on cancelling last week's walk, definitely good for ducks.

The forecast for this Sunday is much better so we are chancing our arm at Balmoral for a shortish walk which includes some hills, yay!

Burran Ave, Balmoral is our starting point, free parking, plenty of spots during the week so fingers crossed for Sunday. Meet near the sign pointing down to the beach, where the star is on the map, near where Stanton Rd intersects with Burran Ave.

We can choose where to have coffee, before a short stroll along the Esplanade and beach, up to the cars.

Looking forward to seeing y'all soon,

Bernadette

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST PLEASE

Could we please have a show of hands, or comment here, or SMS if you are interested/able to walk this Sunday, Jan 27th?

It being the long weekend and there being the Sydney Festival and the Tennis all happening I wondered if we all needed a weekend off, or are we raring to go??????

Steve and I have a doozy of a walk planned but it will only improve with age - so let me know what you think.

Cheers,
Bernadette

This week we resume a loop walk, along the foreshore, discovering some more enchanting coastal views and lookouts before returning via some residential streets (each week I discover another place I would like to live).

Measuring about 8kms this walk is a step lover's dream, I was distracted by some pretty remarkable views, especially around the Curlew Camp Walk , and Cooee Cove. More history for you Marg, this was an artists camp where Streeton, Roberts and the like all painted at one time. They knew a great view when they saw one.

Once again there is a bit of everything, formed paths, bush track and steps, finishing on a lovely path around the Cremorne Wharf Headland where we ended our walk last week.

TIME FOR A PAT ON THE BACK

CONGRATULATIONS!!

Check out the map showing where we have been over the last 6 months............

215 kms over 40 hours.

Not a bad effort to begin with - now to start our 2013 ramblings.

This Sunday 13th January, we will begin where we left off at Kirribilli all those weeks ago. Starting with a moderate walk of about 6kms, no bush tracks but there are steps.

Meet at Admiralty House at 8am, where there is plenty of shaded parking. The walk follows the coast as much as possible and early on in this walk we discover that Lady Gowrie must have had pretty strong legs!

We make a couple of other discoveries as we encounter Thelma and Louise near a hidden beach, see a Platypus and come across MacCullum seawater pool, and don't miss the gumnut babies at Nutcote. Whoever knew about Miss Gladys Carey and why she is so reserved?

Still lerving that Bridge!

To start off the year we are not doing a loop walk, Steve and I will leave a car at Cremorne Point and ferry everyone back to the coffee shops at Kirribilli, then it is only a short hop back to Admiralty House.
