FATHERS DAY

SAME START........

We have a smaller contingent this weekend as we bid bon voyage to Sue & Pete, and Marg & Bruce.

Not daunted, we start our walk in the same place as a few weeks ago, cnr of  Mount Street Walk and Refinery Drive Pyrmont - remember coins for the parking meters. This time we head across the Anzac Bridge after a scenic circuit around the Fish Markets. Should be fun!

See you there at 8am Sunday.

NO WAY JOSE

In honour of a special Birthday boy, there will be no Burbnbay meeting this weekend, back on the hoof in the first weekend of September, though our numbers will be depleted due to overseas travels.

Bon voyage to Sue and Pete and Marg and Bruce, we look forward to hearing all about your adventures on your return.

APRES SKI

I look forward to hearing about last weeks adventures in Balmain.

This Sunday 19th, we have Pyrmont in our sights. This is a fascinating walk, have you ever heard of Darling Island? No, not a tropical holiday destination, right here on our doorstep. All will be revealed on Sunday at 8am.

This is about a 7km walk, not many hills and definitely no bush tracks, some interesting cityscapes and a fascinating water sculpture featuring cantilevered ladders.......

We begin the walk near the corner of Mount Street Walk and Refinery Drive, no free parking around here so bring some coins. We then proceed along the waterfront and see the Bridge from a different perspective, before we get up close and personal with the Anzac Bridge.

Looking forward to catching up, and hoping my legs still work after a week on the snow.

WEATHER
Our wet weather policy is : if it is miserable and rainy we will cancel.

A few showers will not discourage us, use sms if in doubt, but we don't need to put ourselves through nasty weather conditions. This is after all meant to be fun. :-)

Hasta luego,

Bernadette

Missing in Action

Missing in Action

Sunday was a lovely traipse through the Gardens and across the Bridge and back, the walk was over 9km so well done everyone. I am loving the interesting walks, learning more about my beautiful city and spending time in fine company.

Thanks for the donations to Royal Flying Doctor Service, Warwick will deliver them to the Dubbo South Rotary Foundation, who I am sure will be most appreciative.

Steve and I will be schooshing down some ski slopes next week, and Pete and Sue are away for the weekend, so we thought we would recycle a previous walk through Balmain. Trevor and Sharon have done this before but it will be new for everyone else.

Look back at the blog for June 1st to see any notes re the walk, and have a good time.

August Adventures

August is a big birthday month - happy birthday Trevor, who is celebrating with Sharon and the family at Mollymook. Have a great time, we will miss you both on our walk this weekend.

Way back when I proposed these Sunday morning walks as an alternative to the City to Surf I mentioned that Warwick goes on an outback 4WD trip which fundraises for the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Donations are fully tax deductible and the total amount goes directly to the RFDS. If you are interested in making a donation I will pass it on to Warwick, the convoy departs next week. Cheques may be made out to: Rotary Club of Dubbo South Foundation.

This weekend we take on the CBD.

We meet at 8am, Milson's Point Station, on the Kirribilli side, at the base of the stairs leading to....you guessed it ....the Harbour Bridge. We will cross the Bridge, walk through the Domain and Botanic Gardens before fronting the Opera House and returning over the Bridge.
It is a little longer than our previous walks but we have been building our endurance and there are no uneven stairs or bush tracks, and of course, a choice of coffee shops at the finish.

We didn't check out parking, it may be meter parking near the station, but a few blocks away it could be free.

Let's hope for a lovely sunny Sunday.
